Los Angeles Mountain Couples Session

This was my first ever mentor session shoot. I’ve been wanting to test out offering mentoring to other photographers and decided to do a giveaway for a free one before I officially added them to my services. My sweet friend Jenny ended up winning and I loved getting to share so much of what I’ve learned with her when we met up at a coffee shop before the shooting portion of the day. We went over Pinterest, marketing, building your portfolio, and so much more. I have never really considered myself a teacher but I realized that when I’m talking about something I love so much it comes really naturally to me! I can’t wait to share more of what I’ve learned with other photographers in the future.

Now about our shoot: after coffee and chatting all things photography, we drove up to the mountains to meet Kea and Eric who were kind enough to agree to model for us. During shoots like this for mentor sessions, it’s a bit different than normal since 2 photographers are there - I started off directing and giving prompts while Jenny observed and shot along side me and then I let her take over with directing. No matter what stage of photography you’re in, I think watching other photographers shoot is such a great way to learn!

Kea and Eric were so much fun and we couldn’t have gotten luckier to have found such a great couple to photograph. My favorite photos are the ones that capture their laughter and show their sillier sides. Check them out below!
