Couple Session at Pena Palace in Sintra, Portugal

During my trip to Portugal, my best friend and I took a day trip from Lisbon to Sintra and the first place we went to once we got into town was Pena Palace, a beautiful, colorful castle on top of a hill. This is one of the biggest highlights in the area so we wanted to go right when they opened in order to avoid crowds - and it worked! We were some of the first few people to enter the grounds of the castle and we were able to explore and take photos without people in the background.

A cool moment during our visit was when we got to meet the sweetest couple who were in Portugal celebrating their 7 year anniversary. After taking some selfies, they asked me to take a photo of them with their phone so we offered to take some with our cameras as well. They excitedly said yes and I’m so happy because they were so cute and I loved the photos that I took of them!

Although these photos were from a spontaneous mini-shoot with strangers, it reminded me how fun and special it can be to get photos taken while traveling so I want to encourage more couples to do something like this! You might not get lucky enough to meet a professional photographer while traveling like these two did, but if you plan ahead, you could book a session during your trip so that you have part of your experience documented!

Traveling is a huge passion and source of inspiration to me, so getting to capture these types of experiences for couples is one of my favorite things - whether it’s your honeymoon, an anniversary trip, or you’re finally visiting one of your bucket list destinations, I’d love to meet you there!
