Taft Point Elopement

Getting to capture Courtney and Klayton’s Taft Point elopement in Yosemite was a highlight of my 2021. From the very beginning, these two had such a fun energy and it made going through the process of dreaming up and planning out their day that much more exciting. I’m so so grateful that I get to work with people who feel more like friends than clients. ❤️

On the night before their elopement, we all stayed at Autocamp, which is a super cute little property tucked away in the woods with modern airstreams and luxury camping accommodations - perfect for couples (or anyone) who loves the outdoors but want to experience it a little more comfortably! Their airstream doubled as their getting ready space and where I captured their details before they shared a first look on the edge of the woods. Then it was time to head to the park! We made a quick stop at Tunnel View to grab some shots overlooking the valley and then drove up to Glacier Point. We took some time here to have a quick lunch and hang out for a bit. I always encourage breaks in long days so things don’t seem super rushed and of course food is always a must! After some photos with the iconic Half Dome as our backdrop, we started our hike out to Taft Point. Here they shared their vows and made things official!! In addition to being their photographer, I also had the honor of being their officiant - I pronounced them married and signed their license. For our witnesses, we got super lucky and another couple in wedding outfits was nearby and agreed to sign. I of course had to snap a photo of them all together! Such a fun little unplanned part of the day. To wrap things up, we caught a beautiful, dreamy sunset on the cliffs, which gave us what might be my absolute favorite Yosemite photos ever!

Here’s what Courtney and Klayton said about their Experience working with me:

'“Simply put, Carrie Rogers made our wedding day what it was. We will forever be thankful for her role on our special day. My husband and I wanted a fun-filled adventure elopement day in Yosemite National Park and Carrie made the day exceed all our expectations. We didn’t know the details of what we wanted in our day (we just knew we loved each other and wanted to be married already!), she helped us during the planning and coordination portion prior and no stone was left unturned. She communicated through the entire process and felt more like a friend than a hired photographer. By the time our day came, she made us both so comfortable in front of the camera. She facilitated the technical side of the elopement: officiating, permits, travel, etc. which took an entire load of stress off. And of course the reason everyone books her — the finished product was absolutely amazing. Her work speaks for herself. Her personality and passion for her couples however, is something you cannot find in most wedding/elopement vendors. Thank you Carrie, you have a special place in the Miller’s hearts.”
